Kid-Friendly Snacks for Children Living with Type 1 Diabetes

Do you have a child (or know a child) that is living with Type 1 Diabetes?

Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune disease that prevents your pancreas from making insulin. It is a tragic disease and affects about 1.6 million Americans.

Even though the pancreas is no longer automatically making any insulin, there are many ways to give insulin manually, such as multiple daily injections, pumps, inhalers, etc.

Because of this, thankfully, Type 1 Diabetics are allowed to eat anything they want, in moderation. Of course, some foods are better than others and each food affects blood sugar differently.

So, what type of snacks can you give your child that is living with Type 1 Diabetes?

Any and all snacks!

However, if you are trying to manage the blood sugars in an easier way, it's good to find snacks that are low carb and filled with fat, fiber and protein.
