Building a Type 1 Diabetes Community

The Type 1 Diabetes community includes individuals with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) as well as their families, friends, and healthcare providers who support them.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, resulting in high blood glucose levels.

Living with Type 1 Diabetes can be challenging, as individuals with T1D must monitor their blood glucose levels frequently throughout the day, administer insulin via injections or an insulin pump, and make lifestyle adjustments to maintain healthy blood glucose levels. However, with proper management and support, individuals with T1D can live full and active lives.

The Type 1 Diabetes community is active both online and offline, with numerous organizations and support groups dedicated to providing education, advocacy, and support for those living with T1D.

These groups aim to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes, provide resources and tools for managing the disease, and advocate for increased research funding to find a cure. Additionally, the Type 1 Diabetes community is a source of emotional support for individuals with T1D and their families, helping to alleviate the isolation and stress that can come with managing a chronic condition.

Type 1 Tribe was started to build a community of people living with Type 1 Diabetes and provide easy and fun food and accessory options to try. Type 1 Tribe is an online marketplace for Type 1 Diabetes and includes blood-sugar friendly snack items, T1D clothing and accessories and a monthly subscription gift box with all of the items combined!
